Genevieve Grabert
Genevieve Grabert is a 90 year-old woman who happened to also serve in World War 2. After attending Pomona College she was sent to Smith College and Harvard University to learn how to use radar technology, and eventually became part of the WAVES (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service). During her education on the east coast she happened to meet her future husband and work closely with Grace Hopper, one of the most important people involved with early computer programming. After Genevieve's time there she was stationed at Mare Island near Vallejo, CA for radar, communications, and ship repairs. When the war ended she reunited with her husband in Georgia, then went to Hawaii where he was moved to, and finally settled back in the LA area and became a junior high school math teacher.
