YALTA CONFERENE
February 4-11 1945
Once allied victory in Europe was considered inevitable, the Yalta conference was held between the leaders of the united states, United kingdom, and soviet union, to decide the fate of the postwar Europe. Perhaps the most significant of their decisions was that Germany was to be held wholly responsible for the war, and was to pay for all damages from the war as a condition of surrender. They also agreed that each nation present would occupy and reform one-third of Germany after their surrender.
